Documentation
Get up and running
Install the desktop app, connect a project, and create your first agent.
Installation
Download the desktop app for your platform from the download page. OpenAgently supports:
- Windows 10 or newer
- macOS 12 or newer
- Modern Linux distributions
The installer sets up two components: the desktop app (your control surface) and the local daemon (background scanning, log capture, and sync).
First agent in five minutes
- Open the desktop app and choose
Connect project. - Select a repository. The scan runs locally and excludes secrets and ignored files.
- Choose your harness and describe the agent's goal.
- Answer the directed questions and review the generated files.
- Materialize the files into your repo, review the diff, and commit.
Signing in
Create an account or sign in from the desktop app sidebar. Sign-in opens your system browser; tokens are stored encrypted on your machine. Once signed in, the daemon syncs redacted session summaries and your web dashboard comes alive.
Supported harnesses
- Claude Code — project subagent profiles; native log capture
- Codex — project custom-agent TOML files; native log capture
- GitHub Copilot — project agent profiles; instructed capture
- Gemini CLI — project commands; instructed capture
- Pi — project skills; instructed capture
Data controls
The dashboard shows synced agents, versions, signals, devices, and recent activity. To understand transient processing, retained data, and beta privacy-request controls, read Security & privacy.
Troubleshooting
The daemon isn't syncing
- Check the account state in the desktop sidebar — signed out means local-only mode.
- Verify your machine appears under Devices in the dashboard.
- Sync is periodic and batched; recent sessions can take a few minutes to appear.
An update doesn't show in my repo
Updates never apply automatically. Open the desktop app, review the pending version, and choose Apply.
